Goodbye Cutbank

July 28, 2008

After a week of living the Montana prairie life, it is time to mount my steed again and continue eastward.  My shoulder feels a lot better, although I am still wary and wonder whether it will hold up to the rigors of riding.  As for the rest of me, I’m 6 pounds heavier thanks to Mona and Joe and definitely ready to continue the adventure.  I have 35 days to do the remaining 3, 100 miles, and this little vacation moved my daily average required to complete the trip to about 92 miles.  Sweet.

Good Luck Matthew!! I love you so much!!!!

  2. man, shitty turn of events for you. i hope the clavicle thing goes away and the winds are always at your back. i doubt the winds will be there, but i’ll be hoping for you. 92 miles per day is very doable. just make sure to always take advantage of tailwind days. and, it helps a ton if you get up early. as long as you’re at 50 miles by lunch time, you’ll be golden. illinois, indiana, and most of ohio will allow you to turn in some big mileage days.

    hang in there.

    keep up the good work

    MATT,
The girls are learning about geography by keeping track of you. They know now that Cutbank Montana is not next door to Whidbey Island! They also want to know what kind of fashion outfits girls in Montana wear. We are having a hard time characterizing that so maybe you can help. Do they wear pink? Flowers? Dots? What exactly?j
Did you ever get that ARNICA????? Try some White willow bark and TRAUMEEL (brand name of a homeopathic medicine for muscle trauma injury).

Love, Trish, Aurora and Oona (and Robert)

    See son,
What you need to do, is treat workin’ them peddles like you’re workin’ a job. You have air in the tires? You got oil on the chain? Chew yourself some gopher jerky and while one leg is pushin have the other leg pullin. That way each leg is only doing half the work. Get there twice as fast!
